Hot Games of E3: Resistance 3

Insomniac was one of the best at cranking out quality games on a yearly basis, as attested by the Ratchet and Clank games. That is, until they bit off more than they could chew with Resistance 2. They took that to heart and took a whole year to develop Resistance 3 and make it something worth giving your time to. As evidenced by the E3 demo, the extra time looks to have helped tremendously.
I’m a fan of the weapon wheel from Resistance 1, so I was ecstatic to see it make its return. Choosing your tool of destruction at anytime always meant choice and variety that Resistance 2 just didn’t have. While god knows where Capelli is keeping all of his firearms, it is awesome to have them all in your armory at the same time.
Resistance 3 also looks a fair bit better that its predecessor, with slicker environments, better character models, and cooler looking weapons, new and old. Speaking of weapons, even though some are returning to the series, I saw one new exotic weapon that looked to be outside of the realism, which is great. I hope to see some inventive Insomniac weaponry at work here, something along the lines of Ratchet and Clank. Shotgun nunchucks need to work their way into the game this time!
I always give Insomniac the benefit of the doubt as I have been playing their games since the first Spyro The Dragon game. I was a bit burned by Resistance 2 and, from what they’ve showed, I’m welcoming the back with open arms with their new game. I’ll get to finally check out this one September 6, 2011 only on PS3.
